To enclose the timberframe, you have options. Rather than try to explain all of the options here, I will just show what the most common method is...Structural Insulated Panels (SIP's). The SIP's enclose the timberframe against the elements. They are built like an Oreo cookie; OSB plywood inside and out with an inner core of foam. There are different types of foam with differing insulating values but again, those specifics can be discussed on the phone. The SIP's are screwed to the timberframe walls and roof, enclosing the frame in an insulated shell. The SIP's can be finished just like a conventional home with choice of shingles, siding, stone, etc. The SIP's house the electrical chases for plugs, switches, and lights but not for any plumbing. SIP's are the most efficient way to enclose your frame and the most economic way (over time) to heat and cool the living space contained within. We will install the SIP's depending on your location and other circumstances. The SIP company we recommend will also install their product. Between the two of us, your panels will get on correctly.
