Tucked into an old farmstead, this home speaks of a past foreign to the fields and woods of Missouri. Relocating from the State of Maine, the homeowner wanted to pay homage to his roots and the 'Colonial' style homes that dotted the rough Atlantic shoreline. Complicating matters, this frame sits on the original location of the old farm house. Sharing part of the old foundation and sitting on a new foundation, the new design with old roots took shape and keeps watch, not over the waves of the Atlantic, but the wave of the natural grasses as the winds blow. When I stand in the front yard and look at this house, I picture New England, I picture the old colonials that still stand on Maine St.
