A berm home is not the traditional use for a timber frame. However it was the style of the previous home the owners had built. As such, they wanted to combine it with the look of a timber frame. The most interesting challenge on this project was that the post length was reduced to nearly nothing. At the same time however, more room was required in the loft. In order to achieve the requirements we opted to use a queen post truss design that would allow for short posts at the ends of the rafters. All in all, this was a very interesting project and we will be sure to post finished pictures once it’s completed.
